Letter From Our President

Welcome to the Epsilon Mu Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma here at Clemson University! My name is Cat Iveson, and I have the incredible honor to serve as our Chapter President this year. We have something so immensely special here in Kappa and I can’t wait to show you what it’s all about!

When I started my journey at Clemson from Orange County, California, I was eager to find my place and community through the recruitment process. Given I didn’t know anyone at the school, I went through the rush process with an open heart and mind. During recruitment, I entered the curtains to be welcomed by a truly exceptional group of women who embodied the qualities I hoped to find in a sisterhood. They are strong, passionate, loving, empathetic, and determined. I am grateful everyday to have found a home with them here in Kappa that push me and support me in every way.

Joining this sisterhood truly transformed my life, brought me out of my comfort zone, and offered me the support to shape me into the woman I am today. Starting with our new member process,  I was integrated into the foundation of my pledge class, and given the support system I needed during the transition into collegiate life.  I feel the same unwavering support from the women in my chapter now, as I serve as President.

Our chapter here at Clemson currently has over 350 women from more than 25 states. Our members are involved in over 150 student organizations, co-ops, internships, and student jobs within the university.  Our leadership team, composed of myself, my 7 incredible Vice Presidents, 15 Directors, and 30 coordinators work constantly to provide the best Kappa membership experience possible, while maintaining the most affordable Panhellenic financial dues on campus.

This past year, our chapter proudly received awards for Alumni Development, Chapter Development, Fraternity and Sorority Life Involvement, Philanthropic Service, and Scholastic Achievement. These awards, presented by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, are a testament to our commitment and the impact we make together.

An integral part to everything we do here in Kappa is our dedication to our chapter’s philanthropy, mental health awareness, education, and intervention. We proudly support the JED Foundation, a foundation founded by two parents who lost their young adult son Jed to a mental health battle.  Mental health is something we keep in the forefront of our minds here in Kappa.  Not only do we support mental health and wellbeing philanthropically, but inside our chapters operations.  We have integrated countless programs and support systems within our chapter to make sure girls feel comfortable to ask for help if they need it. We are incredibly proud of how our chapter has adopted the switch to this relatively new philanthropy, just five years ago.

As you explore what it means to be a Kappa, you will find that our values are not just words; they are actions that define us. I invite you to explore what it means to be a Kappa here at Clemson and witness firsthand the bonds of friendship and the spirit of service that make Kappa Kappa Gamma truly special.

For those participating in Panhellenic recruitment this fall, congratulations on taking this courageous step to put yourself out there.  Our Panhellenic community is unlike any other, and we are thrilled to welcome you to it!  Whether you find your place in Kappa or elsewhere, we wholeheartedly celebrate your decision to partake in this incredible journey.

Thank you for your interest in our chapter. If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please do not hesitate to reach out!
